Queensland Ballet Academy. Talbot Theatre, Thomas Dixon Centre. Performances 5-7
December 2024

The Soiree season brings together the visual and the performing arts in an exciting pas de deux. The program is inspired by the works of the legendary Queensland artist William Robinson AO.
Soiree showcases the dancers of Queensland Ballet’s Level 1 Ballet Course, Contemporary Course and the Pre-Professional Program. They have had the good fortune to work with resident choreographers Natalie Weir, Paul Boyd and Louise Deleur.
Live music is expertly provided by Camerata – Queensland Chamber Orchestra.

It is good to see the next generation of ballet stars in preparation. It is to the credit of the Queensland Ballet that they have fostered such a large number of students in training. They bring the vigour and creativity of youth to the stage.
There are 6 short works, each inspired by a William Robinson painting:
· Drift – choreographed by Louise Deleur
· Adventures of an Afternoon Nap – choreographed by Paul Boyd
· The Dome of Space and Time – choreographed by Natalie Weir
· Catharsis – choreographed by Jeannie Mok
· Suikyo - choreographed by Saye Hibino and Moeki Kojima
· Academy Defile - choreographed by Paul Boyd
The performance concludes with a bang in the Academy’s Grand Defile, showcasing seven levels of students on stage in a spectacular presentation.
